Beleth Eisner
A young person who belongs to their father Jeralt's mercenary company; they are feared as the "Ashen Demon" for the way they fight without ever changing their facial expression.
In the year 1180 of the Imperial Calendar they encounter a mysterious girl named Sothis. They also save Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude—students from the Officers Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery who were being pursued by bandits. These events lead to their invitation to the academy, where they are appointed as a teacher. They are assigned to lead one of the three classes—the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, or Golden Deer—each headed by one of the aforementioned students.
Although born a commoner, they were raised in relative isolation from social interaction and the Church of Seiros—the faith central to the lives of Fódlan's people—due to their father's wishes; consequently, they are quite naive about the ways of the world.
They appear to lack emotional range and facial expressions—traits the students point out early on, describing them as "indifferent" or "expressionless"—though they gradually become more emotionally expressive as school life progresses.
However, it does not appear that they are entirely devoid of emotion from the start; early dialogue options include quirky, deadpan responses—whether intentional or not—to questions about their identity, such as claiming to be a "ghost" or an "evil god." Furthermore, they do occasionally display reactions like annoyance or surprise. They show an aversion to bustling, crowded places and public speaking.
They are skilled at fishing—earning the envy of their father's colleagues, who remark, "As expected of Jeralt's child"—and possess impressive culinary abilities, described as "quite good."
